Sohail Haroon Corporation is one of the pioneers of exporting onions from Pakistan. Since then there has been no looking back, we are now one of the biggest and most renowned Exporters of  Onion from Pakistan, exporting and approximate of 6000 tons per annum that is about 200 containers of 40 ft refrigerated containers per annum. Pakistan is well known for its quality of onions with its bright red colour and long lasting shelf life. Sohail Haroon Corporation brings its customers the best onions from the farms of Balochistan and Sindh. The crop of Balochistan starts from the start of July and ends over the mid of September. And the Sindh crop starts at the starting of December and goes on till the mid of Febuary. SHC mostly exports to countries in the Middle East and in Asia specifically Dubai, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar and in Asia to Malaysia, Singapore, Srilanka and Bangladesh.

There are three qualities or sorting of Onion. The first size is the Premium size which is from 55mm and higher, its the highest quality and is mostly exported to Singapore and over the Middle East. The Second quality is from 45mm to 55mm it is mostly exported to Malaysia, Srilanka and Bangladesh. The Third Quality is 35-45mm it is exported in Bangladesh, Srilanka and sometimes Malaysia. The fourth quality onion is also known as Pickle Onion is from 25-35mm it is mostly exported to Malaysia.

Recent research has suggested that onions in the diet may play a part in preventing heat disease and other ailments. Onion bulb is rich in phosphorus, calcium and carbohydrates. The pungency in onion is due to a volatile oil know as ‘allyl-propyl disulphide. Its taste is sweet and pungent. It is an appetizer and helps in digestion of food. It is a source of energy and acts as stimulant increases vigor and vitality, acts as an expectorant and diuretic and slows the heart beat, prevents flatulent and dyspepsia.
